The CV Link, a 40-mile trail aimed at providing access throughout the Coachella Valley for pedestrians, bicyclists, and golf carts, is on track to be completed by the end of the year. While some portions of the path have been open to the public for several years, there are areas in the eastern Coachella Valley, such as La Quinta, Indio, Coachella, and Thermal, that are now nearing completion. This $100M project was originally intended to span the entire valley, but two cities – Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells, ultimately pulled out of the project. It does, however, encompass seven other cities, including Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Indio, Coachella, and Thermal.
Though it is currently unknown how many people are using CV Link on a regular basis, the project intends to establish the Coachella Valley as a more sustainable place to live, with safer access to school, work, and public spaces for its residents and visitors.
