Empire Polo Club Plans Mixed-Use Development Near Festival Grounds

June 18, 2025

The owner of Empire Polo Club, home to the renowned Coachella and Stagecoach Music Festivals, applied for a land-use designation change which was unanimously approved by Riverside County’s Planning Commission on June 4th. The company seeks to create a mixed-use development featuring homes, restaurants, shops, and potentially a sports venue.

The 218-acre Calhoun Ranch, located on both sides of Jackson Street south of Avenue 52, is in the beginning stages of what will likely be a lengthy process to gain approval for development, but aims to be a new focal point for the eastern Coachella Valley. The development could bring new jobs and create a new major destination for the east Valley.
