The City of Palm Desert’s City Council has unanimously approved the $30M conceptual design for the library during their latest meeting. Located within Civic Center Park near the amphitheater, it will be centrally located in Palm Desert and less than a mile from the current College of the Desert library location.

The new conceptual library will require the demolition of the existing Parkview Building and is inspired by regional palm groves, with a canopy-like shade area for outdoor activities. At 25,892 square feet, the facility will be slightly larger than the existing county-run location.  The new facility is expected to be built by the end of 2027.
