Several developments are in the works in Cathedral City, who expects to be adding 472 new homes in the near future. The additional homes are coming in the form of new planned communities, additions to existing communities, and apartments.

The new communities include Nirvana Estates, a 101 single-family home planned community, and Mountain View Estates, a 110 single-family home community. Additional homes are being built in the existing communities of Campanile and Rio Del Sol. The Grove Apartments is a planned apartment complex that will consist of 19 units in a three-story building.
