Palm Springs International Airport Awarded $5.7M for Baggage Claim Renovation and Expansion

The Palm Springs International Airport has received a $5.7 million award from the Federal Aviation Administration to renovate & expand its baggage claim. The Airport applied for grant funding in the winter and on Feb. 27, was notified by the Department of Transportation of the award to help fund the design and construction for the baggage claim revamp.
The project will include:
Expansion of the building footprint to increase passenger circulation areas
New and larger baggage return systems that will increase system capacity
Replacement of all flooring
Infrastructure including electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems
Relocation of car rental service desks & some airline Baggage Service Offices
Updates to the public announcement, Bag Information Display, and security systems
Airport officials stated that the baggage claim expansion was already planned to begin in 2025, but after receiving the grant funding, can now be accelerated.
